Webster's Dictionary (No Relation), defines
Genealogy as:
1. A history of the descent of a person or
family from an ancestor.
2. Regular descent of a person or family from a
progenitor.
3. The study of family pedigrees.
While these may be fine definitions for a
dictionary, they certainly do not describe all that
genealogists or family historians do. I personally feel that genealogy is like putting
together
a giant jig saw puzzle, without edges, and no complete picture to go by.
