The Golden line that I am in the process of researching appears to
have come to Ohio from New Jersey. The earliest Golden that I can trace back to is George G. Golden. Census
records indicate he was born in New Jersey, ca 1792. Other census records say that his parents
were born in Ireland. George G. married Mary Magdaline Berk in Walpack, Sussex County N.J.
The next record shows them in Pike county Pennsylvania in 1820. By 1830
they were in Wayne county, Ohio. In 1840 the family is in Huron county, Ohio. Finally they settled in
Sandusky county, sometime between 1840 and 1850.
There were a large number of Golden's in N.J. and I have yet to find a
connection to the parents of George G. Golden. The other thing that has been frustrating me in my search is
the lack of photographs of my ancestors. I am unable to find any pictures beyond my grandparents.
Below is one of my favorites, showing me in a baseball uniform, with my
father, Paschal Golden, and his mother, Lutie Lewis Golden.
