The Marblehead Lighthouse was built in 1821. At 353 feet, it is the oldest
continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes.
Other than the 15 feet added to its height, it appears today in much the same way it did
in 1821. The lighthouse sits on the Marblehead Peninsula in Lake Erie, and guards a treacherous area of a treacherous
lake.
Tours of the inside of the structure take place periodically during the summer months.
